Junior League of Tulsa Provisional Application

The Junior League of Tulsa (JLT) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. 

The purpose of the Provisional Course is to provide each Provisional Member an overview of: 

  1. The role of the volunteer in our community 
  2. The structure, projects, and placements of the Junior League of Tulsa, Inc. 
  3. The responsibilities and opportunities of JLT membership

In order to become an Active Member of JLT, each Provisional Member must satisfy the following Provisional Course requirements: 

  1. Provisional Retreat — Participation in Provisional Retreat in the summer. 
  2. Provisional Meetings — Attendance at three (3) Provisional Meetings. Meetings are held on Monday nights at 6:30 p.m. (meeting schedule to be released by the Provisional Retreat) 
  3. General Membership Meetings — Attendance at three (3) General Membership Meetings (GMMs), scheduled between September 2024 and May 2025. GMMs are held on either the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. 
  4. Financial Obligations — Provisionals are required to pay a one-time Provisional Course fee, as well as meet annual financial obligations. Payment plans are available.
  5. Committee Placement — Placement on a League Committee or Council and fulfillment of the obligations, including attendance at least 75% of committee or council meetings. Both daytime and evening placements are available. 
  6. Training — Attendance at training event(s) that accumulate to one (1) hour of training credit.

The 2024-25 Financial Obligations are as follows:

  1. Provisional Course Fee (one-time fee) - $75 
  2. 2024-25 Membership Dues - $225 
  3. Donation - $100 worth of donations toward Bloomingdeals (annual event). Can be fulfilled via a 2 hour work shift (in addition to the fundraiser requirement) or equivalent buy out.
  4. Fundraising - Provisional and active members shall make a contribution of $100 each year toward general fundraising efforts. Any of the following or combination of the following contributions shall meet this requirement.
    • Ticket(s) for a Board-approved League fundraiser or raffle
    • Fundraising sponsorship from an individual member or member-owned business
    • Purchase(s) of League-sponsored publications directly from the League
    • Donation to a League Endowment Fund
    • Donation to the League Building Fund
    • General donation to the League

A provisional member who experiences unexpected and difficult circumstances may choose to defer taking the Provisional Course until the following League year. She must notify the League no later than September 1 to be granted a deferment.

  • In case of deferment, the Provisional Course Fee and dues paid for the deferred year shall not be refunded.
  • A member who defers taking the Provisional Course shall not be required to pay the provisional course fee a second time.  

Space in the 2024-25 Provisional Course is limited and prompt registration is encouraged.
