The Junior League of Galveston County (JLGC) began in 1925 as the Junior Welfare League and became an official member of the Association of Junior Leagues International in 1949.  Our mission is to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.  In short, JLGC develops women to do a world of good!

Applications include this form and one reference letter.  The reference letter must include the reference's relationship to the applicant.  Also, the reference letter cannot come from relatives or current members of the Junior League of Galveston County.  

Completed applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm on March 15, 2025.

Scholarship Application Timeline:

• Completed application submitted, including reference letters (Incomplete applications will not be considered.)
• Scholarship committee meets to select recipients
• All scholarship applicants contacted by May 1, 2025 via e-mail.
• Scholarship recipients are invited to the JLGC Annual Dinner in May.

JLGC will be awarding at least five (5) scholarships.  Each scholarship is for $1,000 and is paid directly to the recipient’s college or university.  Scholarship funds must be used by the end of the 2025-26 school year.

Write a 200-300 word essay about your future career goals and how volunteering has impacted you.

The resume must include community service/volunteer activities, any work experience, awards/honors, and extracurricular activities. Please also include any past involvement with the Junior League of Galveston County.

One letter is required.  The letter must list the reference's relationship to the applicant. A letter from school staff/faculty is recommended.  Please note that relatives or current Junior League of Galveston County members cannot be the reference.
