The DeKalb County Women’s Commission (DCWC) Junior League of DeKalb County (JLD) Steering Committee and community stakeholders have been working diligently since December of 2024 to lay the foundation for a historic milestone: the creation of the first-ever Women’s Commission in DeKalb County.
Through listening sessions, research, and collaborative planning, we have identified key focus areas that reflect the needs and aspirations of women in our community—ranging from economic empowerment and professional growth to health and well-being, education, and cultural identity. Together, we’ve built momentum and community alignment around the vision of a commission that will serve as a lasting advocate for women and girls in DeKalb County.
But our work is not yet done. Before we present the official proposal to the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners for a vote, we need your VOICE and participation.
About the Event
Join us for the DeKalb County Women’s Commission Preview & Reception, an evening to celebrate the progress made so far, connect with leaders and community members, and share your input as we shape the final stages of this effort.
The event will feature:
Inspiring remarks from community leaders and supporting organizations
- A look back at the journey and progress of the Steering Committee and stakeholders
- An opportunity to cast your vote on the official DCWC logo
- A reception to connect with others who are committed to advancing equity and opportunity for women and girls in DeKalb County
This is more than an event, it’s a moment in history for DeKalb County, and your presence matters. Together, we will take another step closer to making the Women’s Commission a reality.
