Community Assistance Fund Application

Our Mission Header

The Junior League of Birmingham, Alabama, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The Community Assistance Fund (CAF) was established to enable the Junior League of Birmingham to respond quickly to community requests for funding of immediate financial needs due to unforeseen circumstances. Upon receiving a notification of need from an organization, the Community Council of the Junior League of Birmingham shall consider each request upon an individual basis.

CAF funding requests are considered by the Community Council at their monthly meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Agencies will be notified regarding CAF funding awards following the Council meeting.

To be funded, an agency must be a 501(c)(3) agency or an appropriate governmental agency which effectively addresses the mission of the Junior League of Birmingham. Funds must be used within 90 days of receipt and must be used within the five county Birmingham metropolitan area. The maximum request that will be considered is $5,000.

In order to be considered for funding, agencies must complete a Community Assistance Fund application.  Agencies can only request funding once per JLB year, June 1 through May 31. Due to the emergency nature of the requests, recurring requests will not be considered.
